AVID is a nation-wide college preparatory program designed to help the students in the middle reach their academic potential. With support, desire, and determination, these students with a 2.0-3.5 gpa and average-to-high test scores will ultimately acquire the tools to attend a four-year college with continued success. The AVID program includes a rigorous reading and writing curriculum that is designed to help students be successful in their core classes. It also includes weekly tutorial groups that encourage students to work together to resolve their academic problems through modeling and questioning. Finally, in the AVID program, students will be successful with the help of study skills enhancement activities, college preparatory training, and college visits.
