Mission Statement
The Heritage High School Alpine Club was founded in 2000 and is dedicated to the promotion of:
good fellowship among climbers;
education as it relates to Colorado mountain history, geology, meteorology, and environmentalal issues;
an appreciation for the beauty and solitude that the mountains offer, and;
an awareness of our strengths and weaknesses when climbing.
General Information
The HHS Alpine Club organizes approximately 15 hikes per school year, usually consisting of six during the fall, three during the winter, and six during the spring. All hikes take place on weekends. In addition, Alpine Club members attend clincis and special events related to mountaineering. Since 2000, the Alpine Club members have hiked a combined 1.7 million vertical feet!!!
Membership fees are $40 for the 2008-2009 school year. This covers the cost of transportation to and from trailheads and an Alpine Club t-shirt. Additional costs may be incurred if the rental of snowshoes is necessary. Membership is open to any student currently enrolled at Heritage High School.
