JCL's purpose is to encourage an interest in and appreciation of the civilization, language, literature, and art of ancient Greece and Rome and to ensure that others come to understand the debt of our own culture to that of classical antiquity.  The close to 100 JCLers at Heritage stay very busy doing everything from competing with other schools in certamina (Latin contests) to visiting classical exhibits, plays and concerts at various Denver area museums and theaters.  Each spring JCLers take the national Latin Exam and then travel to the Y-Camp at Estes Park for a day and a half to join 500 other Latin students from around the state.
